Firefly is a biannual publication that brings together the best fiction, poetry, and artwork being produced today in the culture of the outdoors. Fishing and Hunting have more and better media outlets than they have ever had before. Beautiful print magazines and online publications exist for the best creative non-fiction, top photography, and most pressing conservation oriented journalism. As a community we have loved these for years and will remain loyal to them for many more to come. But today if Ernest Hemmingway wrote Big two hearted river, or William Faulkner wrote The Bear, where would those stories find a home? What outlet does our community of poets have for their work other than obscure literary journals no one outside of their own universities read? And with more painters and artisans producing sporting themed works than ever before, how can their work be seen outside the studio? Firefly was born because of the simple observation of a vacancy sign that has been staked in the middle of our community’s publishing world for decades. Now that sign has been pulled from the ground, and a path has been laid in its place. Enjoy!
